Jan III Sobieski

King of Poland-Lithuania from 1674 to 1696, Sobieski was the commander who led the victory over the Ottomans at the Battle of Vienna in 1683. A devout Catholic, he reigned over a noble republic without managing to strengthen the state against the magnates.
